For those of you who woke up early this morning you would have realised something was differen’t. The cold weather! It’s odd to have such a cold day in February, but that’s Melbourne for you, sunny one day, raining the next. Working around flowers in this weather is not so gracious as you are always stepping in and out of cool store. (storage place for flowers) Although working with flowers can be a great thing, there are some not so gracious things that you just have to get used to. Overall, it was an interesting start to the week and things are now in motion for Mother’s Day preparations. Please order early if you plan to send flowers on Mother’s Day, we can only take a limited number of orders. March is almost upon us, where did the year go?

Well, like every year Valentines went off without a hitch. Zero problems! Everyone who ordered had their flowers delivered on time on Monday the 14th Feb. This is why we have a quota and the main reason why we stick to it. We like to make sure that our customers, who order from us throughout the year are never let down, especially during the important days.

It’s great to see so many ladies sending men flowers and bears this year. The stigma associated with flowers and ‘women only receiving’ is outdated. It’s become trendy to send men flowers now!

We would like to remind our customers that the same quotas apply for important days such as Mothers Day (Second Sunday in May – 8th this year) So, if you’re planning to send flowers to Melbourne for Mothers Day, please do so early. Once we reach our quota, we cannot accept any more orders.

Overview

Pictures taken for Valentines

The picture taken here shows some of the roses purchased directly from the Melbourne markets. From here, the florists take the colours they need to make up your flower arrangement. Red was obviously the most popular selling colour, outselling other colours 50 to 1. The second most popular colour was Pink, followed by Yellow. Tulips were also popular this year, a great alternative to Roses, escpecially the Red ones.

That time of year is upon us again, a time that most florists prefer not to talk about. It’s Valentines 2011 and things are in motion for the new Rose crops. Last weekend the Rose growers cut back their Roses in order to coordinate the new growth with Valentines Day, Monday the 14th of February 2011. So, that means that until Valentines Day there will be fewer Roses on the marketplace.

Valentines Day this year falls on a Monday this year, which means many of the deliveries will be to work addresses. The previous two years Valentines has fallen over the weekend.

On days like this we can only take certain quotas. In order to preserve our quality and service we only fulfil a certain number of orders.

Valentines is not only for young couples dating. Many people have their Anniversary on Valentines Day and many people also send flowers to their Mum to say ‘I love you”. It’s a time to give thanks and say i love you in general.

If your planning to send a loved in Melbourne Roses for Valentines, we suggest you prepare early.

Well, it truly is a “race that stops a nation” We had customers calling from interstate asking if we were open because of the Cup – and surely we were! With such a long weekend things here got quite disorganised, it’s great to see things back to normal again. We hope those who attended the celebrations from interstate/international enjoyed themselves and their stay and hope to you all again next year!

Spring is in the air this week with clear blue skies across Melbourne. The worst of the bad weather seems behind us now and hopefully we can enjoy more days like today. (Clear skies, sunny and 23 degrees).

With Spring in the air, this means flowers are more abundant and growers are producing much more stock now. This also means that they can afford to reduce some stock. Star Florist has specials on all the time, please be sure to check our website for daily and weekly specials. If you are not already a member, remember to join our mailing list so you can receive up to date offers via our website. Sending flowers to Melbourne with Star Florist has never been easier.

A new business was opening in Melbourne and one of the owner`s friends sent flowers for the occasion. But when the owner read the card with the flowers, it read . “Rest in Peace”. The owner was little upset with the message and called the florist to complain. After he had told the florist about the obvious mistake, the florist said, “Sir, I`m really apologise for the mistake, but rather than getting angry, you should imagine this: Somewhere there is a funeral taking place today, and they have flowers with a note saying, “Congratulations on you new location.”

Moral of the Joke, use a respected florist like Star Florist when sending flowers to avoid problems. You see, with Star Florist, there are no middle men, or relay services, we make and deliver everything from here. So you can be sure we get your order right!
